The Confluence Museum is unique in France.  Its architecture, its goals and its innovative museographic approach makes it reference for museums in the 21st century.

Amazing Architecture

The architectural firm

Coop Himmelb(l)au

was chosen to design the museum, thanks to  their creative insight into this unique cultural and scientific project. The design is original; there is a clear sense of movement, like a flowing river, exemplified by its shape and the construction materials used; illustrating the complexity of the themes which will be presented, the many facets of knowledge and at the same time the uncertainty or the unknown.

It is composed of three distinctive elements:
- a cloud,
- a crystal,
- a base.

The architecture, created by Wolf D. Prix, is daring and bold, combining the transparency of glass with the sparkle of metal; the structure appears almost weightless with an interior design that reflects fluidity; it is both esthetic and highly functional.  Balanced over the river, the museum captures the reflection of the moving water; it is in perfect harmony with the extraordinary environment, natural and urban at the same time.
