From Yesterday to Today
project was established in 1999. Faced with the need to totally renovate the Museum of Natural History in Lyon, the Rhône Department which is responsible, chose another option: to completely redefine the mission, to create a new museum concept, on a much larger scale responding to the needs of 21st century visitors.
A committee, composed of 24 representatives (cultural, scientific, economic and institutional), was created
to study the future of the Museum and to decide on how to best develop and leverage its exceptional heritage.
During the last three years, the Museum has served as an innovative museographic laboratory, implementing the very concepts which will make the Confluence Museum so unique. These ideas have already been proven with the public.
From Today to Tomorrow
At strategic moments during the construction, there will be a large communication campaign; upon completion of the base, when the metal structure is finished, when the crystal is installed, and finally, the lighting of the cloud.
